Welcome to the first edition of Opening Solutions for 2024. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I'm Pete Connors, SVP and Head of ASSA ABLOY Australia, and I'm excited to share a bit about myself and our collective vision for the future. I recently returned to ASSA ABLOY, where I previously worked for over ten years in sales, marketing, and general management roles. I have a deep passion for our industry and market, and I can genuinely say that the spirit of ASSA ABLOY and its brands runs through my veins! Since then, I've held leadership roles as a General Manager, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Executive Officer, leading teams in businesses of significant scale. My priority has always been to drive growth, improve customer experiences, and implement programs that enhance efficiency. On a personal level, I’m an avid Collingwood supporter (don’t hold that against me!) And I enjoy spending time with my family and hiking. I look forward to taking the time to meeting you, our valued customers, in due course. In this edition’s cover story, we pay tribute to our Lockwood brand. This year we celebrate the legacy of this Australian icon, with 2024 being the 90 year anniversary of the company’s founding here in Melbourne, Victoria in 1934. In the modern era, Lockwood continues to innovate, with the Brass Core range offering the largest collection of customisable door handles to comply with Australian regulations for access and mobility. We are also thrilled to launch the Lockwood TwinX ® keying system, which follows the Gen6TX ® product launch last year. Both keying systems have extended patents through to 2036. Exciting news continues for the Yale brand, with our DualDoor™ technology now being compatible with all Yale Smart Locks (page 14). In the residential construction space, our team has collaborated with Mirvac on the pioneering Queensland Build To Rent projects Liv Anura and Quay Waterfront developments, which are bringing 396 much-needed rental apartments to the Brisbane market. You can discover our suite of solutions on page 17. With this good news and continuing success in mind, I feel honoured to return to ASSA ABLOY.
